An extra special one time event…
Come join us for an afternoon of Watercolor with artist Sarah Simon, TheMintGardener while she teaches us to paint a piece of art that celebrates the Volunteer Park Conservatory!
Two hours of Watercolor instruction, including an introduction to the foundations of the watercolor art, and a project to complete together. This ‘Agave’ with the arched walls of the Conservatory in the background was designed especially for this class by Sarah to support the VPC.
This class is being held as a Fundraiser! The Friends of the Conservatory (aka the FOC) supports the Volunteer Park Conservatory by advocating for and encouraging preservation, public participation, and education of the Conservatory and its horticulture collection. The proceeds of this FOC X TheMintGardener fundraiser watercolor class will support the FOC in developing virtual programming, creating accessible educational materials, and advancing reopening efforts for the Conservatory! Attend and donate, and enjoy this painting class – all while knowing that your contributions to this wonderful event are helping the lovely plants at the VPC, and the amazing humans behind the scenes at the FOC!

You will explore how to add depth to your watercolors and mix up color recipes, as well as playing with mark-making to see how incredible your round brushes really are. We will explore different approaches to watercoloring, and learn which techniques Sarah uses to get the clean, smooth and vibrant look she is able to capture with her paintbrush. As always, Sarah will provide you with pre-drawn art, so there will be no pressure to draw anything in class. All you have to do is open up the supplies we send you, and tune in online as Sarah guides you live, real time, through the mindful practice of watercolor in these peaceful hues.
We will mail you the workshop materials, or if you’re local to the Seattle area, you will be able to pick them up at StudioLife. Hint, hint: there will be some fun surprises for those who can pick up in person! Stay tuned for more announcements and details…
