American Mah Jongg for Beginners — 4 Session Series

Have you been curious to learn American Mah Jongg but weren't sure where to start?

This four-session beginner series takes you from complete novice to confident player in a fun, supportive, social environment.

Our delightful instructor Valerie will guide the group through the tiles, reading the National Mah Jongg League card, the Charleston, choosing and adapting a hand, using jokers, game strategy, etiquette, and more. Each class builds on the last, with plenty of guided practice and time for questions.

By the end of the series, you'll be able to:

• Set up and play a complete game of American Mah Jongg

• Read and understand the National Mah Jongg League card

• Choose and adapt a hand as the game unfolds

• Use the Charleston and jokers confidently

• Understand basic strategy and etiquette

No prior experience or supplies needed — just come and bring your curiosity. Whether you're coming solo or with a friend, looking for a new hobby, or a fun way to connect with friends, you'll leave with new skills, new connections, and (hopefully) a new favorite game.

Details:
$150 for the 4-session class, plus $25 for the Mah Jongg card (required for each player). If you already have an official 2026 Mah Jongg playing card to bring each time, please message us after registration and we will refund you for the price of the card.
