This art workshop will be for anyone on their creative path who is eager to learn more; beginners as well as the more advanced are absolutely welcome. It's for those longing to do something beautiful in a wonderful location with a lovely sense of community. During our dedicated days of art, you can expect lots of time to play with top-of-the-line materials: paints, pens, pencils, brushes, paper (all of my favorites!) which of course you get to bring home with you. There will also be opportunity for one-on-one teaching time, as well as fun ‘sketch-crawls’ around the area to some beautiful and inspiring favorite places like the University of Washington and Volunteer Park Conservatory. There will also be an exciting line-up of special guests: local chefs, famous bakers, cocktail shakers and cookie makers (oh my!) of the Pacific Northwest. These incredibly talented local Creatives are so excited and eager to add their wonderful Seattle flavor to our fancy celebration.

A Creative Way: Seattle Art Retreat with The Mint Gardener -

Join us at the airy and beautiful StudioLife workshop space to draw and paint several botanical studies using the professional and practical art supplies Sarah and Alli use daily. Come as you are: Are you a Beginner? Discover a creative way to feel confident drawing and painting. Are you experienced? Come find a new way to push your boundaries and express your unique voice. The Art After this class with Alli and Sarah, you will be skilled and knowledgeable, with the new ability to see and recreate the drawing and watercolor process, layer by layer. During our time together, you will learn the techniques Alli uses for shaping botanical compositions. Then, build on your creative knowledge as you learn the foundations Sarah uses for watercolor, and see how she uniquely teaches the techniques of this art as a transferable and mindful skill. Alli and Sarah teach you step-by-step, and once you know how to shape petals and paint flowing washes, that knowledge can be used to create some fabulous projects together. The possibilities are endless with these beautiful art forms! With this class registration, you will receive all of the materials you need to continue to draw and paint at home: professional pens, brushes, paints, and paper. Alli and Sarah cannot wait for you to join them; to fall in love with the flowing freedom of art, and the beauty of watching ink, paint and water dance along your pages. The Space - StudioLife StudioLife was started by Kristi and Brooke, with the idea of creating intentional space for creativity. The airy and beautiful spot in Seattle's University District has been the location for life-giving workshops and events since 2018 (including a couple years of virtual-only creative classes during the pandemic). StudioLife will be providing light bites and beverages for our time together to keep our creativity fueled and flowing. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided as well. Please reach out with dietary needs or allergies. About Sarah: Sarah Simon is the artist, educator and author TheMintGardener. Finding inspiration in the ever-blooming variety of textures and colors in her Seattle-based urban farm, Sarah creates and teaches lush Watercolors inspired by the diverse variety of herbs, flowers, and trees grown in her garden. With a continually blooming following of botanical and art lovers alike, Sarah has taught thousands of people the joy of creating. Her teaching has received worldwide attention with her online and in-person painting courses and art retreats, her internationally best-selling books and her monthly live zoom teaching sessions with the Flower Painting Club. About Alli: Alli Koch is a Dallas-based artist, specializing in black and white illustrations, most notably her large-scale floral murals which you can find painted throughout the state of Texas and beyond. Using her skillset and years of experience, Alli has turned her creativity and passion into a full-time, self-made career that has gained her national notoriety in the art world. Alli is a published author of 10 books and counting, including, “How to Draw Modern Florals” and “Bloom”. While she has been able to work with some incredible companies and created things that have been nationally recognized, her favorite part of the job is still building confidence in herself and others through creating art and connecting with others! _﻿___________________________________ Cancellation Policy: Due to the highly creative and collaborative coordination that events like this require ahead of time, the Hosts cannot offer refunds. The ticket purchase once made is non-refundable, but should the participant be unable to make the planned event, the participant can gift their ticket to a friend if they cannot make it! The participant can make arrangements, and notify the Host. However, we understand that 'life happens,' and any cancellation request received due to an extenuating circumstance may be reviewed by the Hosts who in turn will recommend the appropriate action. Extenuating circumstances can be (but not limited to) death in the family, documented positive COVID-19 test etc. ‍If the event is cancelled by Hosts, all participants will be extended a full refund of their payments.

Join Ellen Sontra of @lettersbyellen as she teaches the fundamentals of brush lettering. Participants will hear Ellen's tips and tricks and get a chance to practice lettering techniques with the alphabet and eventually moving in to making wonderful greeting cards. This virtual workshop is a benefit for The Light Collective (www.thelightcollectivepnw.com) - an incredible organization with the mission of creating a hope-oriented community where families who have a child with cancer build resilience and share delight.

Acrylic Painting: Painted Peaks

Stitch along with Lauren in this workshop as she teaches a wide variety of embroidery techniques, including satin stitch, seed stitch, leaf stitch, and french knots. You’ll learn how and when to use these different stitches to create a landscape, as well as how to use different colors and quantities of thread to create depth of field and textural details. This class is approachable to folks of all skill levels—beginning stitchers will learn the basics and gain exposure to the versatility of this craft, and experienced stitchers can work through new techniques to build on their existing skillset. We’ll work on each part of the pattern during the class so you’ll have the confidence you need to finish up the project on your own. Workshop attendees will receive a full kit to work with, including: High quality 5” beechwood embroidery hoop with brass closure Premium-weight cotton fabric with the design pre-printed on it, set into the embroidery hoop 2 size 5 embroidery needles Full skeins of DMC cotton embroidery thread in each color used in the design A PDF version of the full pattern instructions, including tons of step-by-step photos and diagrams. Lauren is a fiber artist in Seattle and specializes in designing embroidery patterns and kits. She has taught workshops in Seattle and across the country and has filmed several classes for Creativebug.com. Lauren’s designs feature landscapes, floral and botanical work, and colorful abstract patterns. This mom of two young sons loves hiking and houseplants, and her creative work brings her so much joy.
